President Yudhoyono visits Australia for Annual Leaders' Meeting

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono landed in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia today (2/7). President Yudhoyono visits Australia for Indonesia-Australia Annual Leaders’ Meeting.

Following the Australian Prime Minister's visit to Indonesia in November 2011, this year it is the Indonesian President's turn to visit Australia.

President Yudhoyono was accompanied by Mrs. Ani Yudhoyono and several Cabinet Ministers.

On the first day of his visit, the President will visit the Royal Darwin Hospital to take a closer look at the National Critical Care & Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) which was established as a direct result of the Bali Bombings of 2002.

The NCCTRC is the federally-funded key element of the Australian Government's disaster and emergency medical response to incidents of national and international significance.

During the tour of the "disaster village", the President and his entourage were shown the training programs and modern facilities that the NCCTRC employs when sent overseas.

In the evening, the Australian Prime Minister The Hon Julia Gillard MP will host the President and his entourage to an official dinner at the Northern Territory Parliament House.

The dinner will also attend by the traditional Larrakian owners of the land, members of the Indonesian community in Darwin, and various local media and business-persons.
