To Boost Tourism, Indonesian Embassy in Astana Conducted An Event Called “Sales Mission in Central Asia 2012”, Almaty, October 29, 2012

On October 29, 2012, has been held an event called “Sales Mission in Central Asia 2012”, with the theme “Wonderful Indonesia”, at the Kazakhstan Hotel, Almaty. The event was held by the Indonesian Embassy in Astana, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and Balipartners Tour & Travel.

The event opened at 6 p.m. by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Kazakhstan and Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Mr. Foster Gultom, and attended by Mayor of Almaty City, which was represented by the First Deputy of Mayor, Mr. Maulen Mukashev.

“This event is the first tourism promotion conducted in Kazakhstan since the opening of the Indonesian Embassy in Astana December 29, 2010 and the first event conducted since my assignment as the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for the Republic of Kazakhstan,” said H.E. Foster Gultom, in front of approximately 50 representatives from travel bureau, Air Astana airlines, prominent businessmen, and journalists from Kazakhstan. Furthermore, H.E. Foster Gultom expected this event would be an effective means in promoting Indonesian tourism to Kazakhstan’s communities to increase the number of tourists from Kazakhstan to Indonesia. Trend of tourist visit from Kazakhstan to Indonesia, especially Bali, is increasing, particularly since the visa services at the Indonesian Embassy in Astana has been effective on August 2012.

Mr. Maulen Mukashev said that he knows a lot about Indonesia, not only Bali, but also other regions. By conducting this event, Mr. Mukashev hoped that Kazakhstan’s community will have a better knowledge on Indonesia and thus will attract more visitors from Kazakhstan.

The event followed by some presentations from the representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and Indonesian tourist agencies, namely Balipartners Tour & Travel, Gajah Bali Tour, and Ambhara Hotel. The event also enlivened by traditional dances, namely Galenyek, Lenggang Gandrung, Saman and Kembang Topeng, performed by dance studio owned by Mr. Asra Sykra Ayoub, and traditional music from East Nusa Tenggara, called sasando, by Mr. Yakob Bullan, which enthusiastically enjoyed by all participants.
