Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno L.P. Marsudi and Minister of Foreign Affairs of PRC, Wang Yi had a bilateral meeting at Gedung Pancasila, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (03/11). During the meeting, the two ministers, among others, discuss the preparation of the APEC summit to be held in Beijing on 10-11 November 2014 and the improvement of bilateral relations between the two countries.
At the beginning of the press conference, the Foreign Minister said that the relationship between Indonesia and China is the relationship between the two major countries in the region is growing and is an equal relationship. "Of course, as the two great countries, a good relationship is not only beneficial bilateral relations but also will contribute to the region and the world," remarked Retno. "China is one of the largest partners of Indonesia and next year we will commemorate 65 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries as well as 60 years of Asia-Africa Conference," said Retno. Furthermore, the Foreign Minister said that the two agreed to intensify bilateral consultations as the implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two countries also agreed to strengthen economic relations including trade, considering China is one of the largest partners of RI. Indonesian Foreign Minister has asked the PRC to provide wider access to the Indonesian export products. In addition, the two countries agreed to strengthen investment cooperation, infrastructure and people-to-people contact. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that in addition to get acquainted with the new Foreign Minister, this visit is a visit alignment including the preparation of the first meeting of the two leaders at the APEC Summit to be held in Beijing. In addition, the PRC wants alignment in the field of development strategy of each country. Foreign Minister Wang reiterated the idea of PRC President, Xi Jinping on the construction of the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st century and expressed a desire to participate in the economic development of maritime Indonesia because Indonesia considers as an important partner in the development of the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st century. In a doorstop interview, the Foreign Minister said that at the beginning of the Secretary of State has a lot of big countries who visited Jakarta a symbol of international recognition of Indonesia. According to the Foreign Minister, the government has set a priority from the beginning of what will be done in the next five years and if there is cooperation that can be done internationally, the focus is on the national interest and the interests of the people.
